My name is Taylor Jordan. I have been in Cottey for three years. My hometown is Bentonville, Arkansas. And my major here at Cottey is biology and theater. I chose to come to Cottey because I never thought I would be able to go to college. I'm a non-traditional student. So I came to Cottey at 26. Theater and acting and singing is my dream, but biology as a backup plan, so you can have multiple plans coming to Cottey.
A perspective, students should consider coming to Cottey to study theater because it's a very hands-on experience. It's not just bookwork you get a lot of one-on-one with the Director. And she will really push you to your goals. So if it's in you know, tech, or if it's in acting, she'll help you get there, and she'll help find opportunities to help you grow while you're here.
Being at a school that allows me to do two different majors is amazing because I can jump into so many different activities. And each department is very supportive of my decision. This summer, I got to be a part of a summer program in New York on Broadway and I had the opportunity to work with some of the best from Broadway so I got to work with people from Aladdin, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, and so forth. And it was just a really amazing experience I was able to bring back and teach others.
When I graduate from Cottey, I plan on pursuing my music career or my theater career, because that is my ultimate dream in life. But with my biology degree, it is my backup plan. And I would like to work somewhere in a mortuary or be in a medical examiner for the reason that I want to be able to help society with loss. So outside of Cottey, I'm very passionate about music. And when it came to Cottey, that's what I had in mind, but it's gravitated toward theatre. But outside I try out for American Idol. I do The Voice. I work at the Walmart AMP, which I helped bring in bands and concerts that come through our town, and stuff like that. So music is my life.
