      Safety & Well-being

      Cottey College prioritizes student wellness.

We have invested in a brand new wellness center, complete with offices for physical and mental well-being.

Our counseling services provide students with an opportunity to explore their concerns and problems with a clinical therapist in a confidential setting.

Counselors are available to all students during the academic calendar year.

I would say Cottey is definitely committed to student's well being. It's very encouraged for students to reach out to counselors or peer listeners or even their professors if they're struggling.

The services we offer in the Student Wellness Center is counseling where you can come and do one-on-one with a licensed clinical social worker, as well as health services where you can come and see a health care provider at least once a day.

Then, we also have the Cottey Cupboard where students are welcome to come and get food and clothing and whatever they might need. I think in our services, a lot of people expect that it's one thing or that you have to be struggling or completely falling off before you get help.

But I think it's a lot of preventative measures on campus. So we're trying to be there from the start, or just come in when you need something. And I think that's something that's unique about Cottey.

The transition from high school to college definitely can be a little rough, and so as Peer Listeners, we just serve as a way to help students form new connections. So with the incoming students will encourage them to attend events with us and we'll just kind of help introduce them to new people and help form those friendships, new connections.
