Hi, everyone. My name is Alison Clouse. I'm an elementary education major from Grandview, Missouri. We are going to start our tour of Cottey with the Judy and Glenn Rogers fine arts building. Built in 2015, the fine arts building is home to the music, art, and dance departments. It offers music practice rooms, instrument storage spaces, two dance studios, and classrooms. As soon as you enter the building, you're greeted by a stunning lobby that features artwork from both students and faculty. This space is designed to be a welcoming environment for both students and visitors. The art studios at Cottey are among the best in the region, offering a variety of tools and techniques to work with. We offer studios for drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and sculpture. The design studios here we offer are for graphic design and photography. Lastly, we offer tools for metal and woodworking. Upstairs, Cottey's music department has an array of practice rooms, large rehearsal spaces, and even a piano room. Cottey's dance program offers classes in a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop. The studios feature sprung floors, full length mirrors, as well as a sound system to play music on. Thank you for joining us on this tour of the Judy and Glenn Rogers fine arts building. This facility offers students the resources to explore creativity and develop new skills. Come to campus and see it for yourself.
Thanks, Alison. I'll try to match your energy with my tour. I'm Emma, and I'm a business major here at Cottey from Nevada, Missouri. Today, I'll be giving you a tour of PEO Hall. PEO Hall opens to this beautiful parlor. It was renovated in 2018 and it has a very modern feel to it. To my left, you'll see our small conference room behind the sliding glass door. You'll also find our business center. There are large monitors with tables with outlets built into them, and this makes it a great place to be comfortable and study with your friends. This side of the parlor is where the relaxing happens. We have a cozy fireplace area with couches and a nook and a big window where students like to curl up and take in some sunlight. Every residence hall here at Cottey is equipped with suites that house 10 to 15 students. Each suite contains a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms that can be single or double. Suite living is a part of the Cottey experience. We are a college that is focused on community, communication, leadership, and support. Many students make friends for life in their suites and find that they form strong bonds with the older students who mentor them and their suites. The best part about living in the suites - Cottey's custodial staff cleans the common areas for you every week. This has been a tour of PEO Hall. It is a comfortable, supportive, and community based residence hall just like the college itself. Now I'll send you to Maraki where you'll get a tour for the Center for Campus Life.
Thanks for touring PEO Hall, Emma. My name is Maraki Belhe. I'm a business administration management and organizational leadership major from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Today, I'll be taking you on a tour towards our Center for Campus Life. This facility was completed in 2021 and is a hub of activity for students. The outdoor terrace provides a space to study in the sun, while the interior space is a relaxed environment for students to eat, meet, and study with friends. The Center for Campus Life also features the Chellie Club, a coffee, smoothie, and snack bar that is run by Cottey students. Private study rooms are also available at this location, as well as lockers for commuter students. Finally, the Center for Campus Life houses Cottey's spirit shop, so make sure to stop by, grab somebody gear when you visit. Thank you for touring the Center for Campus life today. Bryce is in the academic building and is excited to give you the tour. Have fun!
Thanks for showing them around the Center for Campus Life, Maraki. My name is Bryce Bearson. I'm from Ames, Iowa, and my two majors are international relations and environmental studies. Now, we'll go on a tour of the Rubie Burton Academic Center. The Academic Center contains classrooms, a study lounge, computer labs, a student art gallery, as well as faculty offices. The second floor features scientific classrooms, including laboratories for both chemistry and biology. Our science programs not only focus on chemicals, equipment and theorems, they also have a unique focus on leadership and scientific communication. This floor also features a computer science lab for computer interface experimentation. This building also contains the Kolderie Center, which is home to a host of services, including the peer tutoring program, the Learning Center, internship programs, study abroad, and career planning. Thank you for joining us on a tour of the Rubie Burton Academic Center. Come see it for yourself and experience how Cottey provides a state of the art learning experience with a focus on leadership. Next up, we have Liz with a tour of the library.
Thanks, Bryce. I'll be showing you the Blanche Skiff Ross Memorial Library. Before we begin, I'm Elizabeth Thomas. I'm a health and biomedical science major from Salida California. Our library was built in 1963 and renovated in 2020 and provides a ton of resources, including computers, printers, study spaces, research materials, and even entertainment options. We have multiple locations for computers in our library, including our Mac lab. Options include both PC and Mac. Cottey's library is full of different kinds of study spaces, including study pods, study cubbies, open areas downstairs, and closed study rooms upstairs. Students also make use of our conference room when tackling group projects or when a study group wants to study in style. One of the most popular features in the library is the free coffee and tea bar nestled in this beautiful lounge. Lastly, Cottey's library contains a content creation zone providing students with equipment to create podcasts, videos, and other digital content. Thank you for touring the library with me. I hope you enjoyed seeing all the resources it has to offer. Next up, you'll go to Hinkhouse, home of Cottey athletics, with your tour guide, Keriyion. Have fun!
Liz is great, isn't she? Well, I'm Keriyion Cloyd, and I'm a psychology major, and today we will be taking a tour of the Hinkhouse Center. Let's get started. This building here is home to all of our sports teams. So we have the weight room, the physical training room, the home and away locker rooms, and all of the individual spaces for our athletic teams. When you enter Hinkhouse, you are greeted by the colorful graphics celebrating the Cottey Comets. Through these doors is the basketball court, where the Comets compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA. Downstairs in Hinkhouse, you'll find the eSports arena, which doubles as a stock trading lab for the business students during the day. Each station has a state of the art gaming computer with a monitor that rises from inside of the table. This here is the weight room, which offers a wide range of workout equipment starting from the treadmill to the weights. Hinkhouse also features a swing lab for our golf team. This facility allows players to practice their swing in a controlled environment and provides locker space for players to store their clubs. Across the street from the athletic facility, we have here the Vanek Family Memorial softball field, where our softball team plays all of their home games. And this concludes our tour of Cottey College. Thank you guys so much for watching. To schedule an in person tour, visit cottey.edu and click visit campus in the top right corner. Bye bye, future Comets.
