Dear Cottey Student,
What an amazing experience awaits you. You've begun a year that will stay in your memories for the rest of your life.
I remember arriving on campus. I was nervous, excited, scared, unsure, happy, and just about every other emotion you can think of.
But I quickly realized that everyone on campus was willing and eager to help me succeed.
As I look back on my years at Cottey, I have so many fond and lasting memories, going on road trips, seeing performances on campus, eating tubes of chocolate chip cookie dough during late night chats with suitemates, and all the songs, you'll find out. I hope you'll come away with your own amazing memories.
Since I was a student, Cottey has grown and made so many innovative changes for students, but the heart of our college has remained the same.
I owe much to Cottey. I learned how to be open to other people, new opportunities, and different viewpoints. I learned empathy for others who are not like me, and I realized I had something of value to contribute to the world and gain the tools I needed to be that contributor.
My love and gratitude for Cottey runs deep. A former Cottey student once told me that the three things she loved most about Cottey were the friends you make, the education you receive, and the person you become. I made the best friends of my life that Cottey.
My hope is that you will love this place as much as I still do, and that it will serve as a cornerstone for everything that comes after.
Cherish your suitemates and friends and lean on them when you need to. Remember to take breaks and time for yourself.
When things seem to get too tough, take a deep breath and know you're fully supported and you've got this. You have generations of women who have gone before you and support you 100% of the way.
Sincerely, a Cottey Alumna
Dear Cottey Alumna,
Your kind words have meant so much to me. It's like you knew exactly what I needed to hear this semester.
This fall has been incredible and challenging all at the same time. I've made new friends, seen some new places, and made lots of new memories.
This fall, I learned more about myself and how to persevere through difficult things. I was a lot tougher and more flexible than I ever knew I could be.
It was so encouraging to hear about your love and appreciation for Cottey. This place means a lot to me too, and I am so thankful to be a part of this college.
Thank you for the legacy you created in your part and making this college so special.
Thank you for thinking of me and helping inspire me through this hard semester.
I'm honored to follow in your footsteps and I hope someday to write my own exciting stories to share with future students.
Sincerely, a Cottey Student
