The careful study of language and literature is crucial to becoming socially-responsible, globally-aware leaders and broadly-educated, multi-faceted human beings.

Our program prepares students for a variety of careers and graduate school degrees.

English students will engage in a wide variety of experiences, including the following:

      •  Travel to readings by well-known writers
      •  Edit and publish in Cottey’s literary magazine or yearbook
      •  Attend and present papers at national conferences
      •  Participate in internships and service learning projects

I'm Cheyenne Maine. I'm a senior here at Cottey. I'm majoring in English and history. And I'm from Denver, Colorado. What stood out to me about Cottey was the amazing suite life. I loved how close the campus brought everyone together. I love the classes and how small they are and how intimate and the campus is just beautiful in general. My leadership immersion experience was a summer program at NYU. It was a creative writing program. It was four weeks long and I applied for it myself and then Cottey helped fund it. You got to meet authors and publishers from all over New York. It was just an amazing experience. Never would have gotten to go without Cottey.
