Hi, my name is Taryn Dipman. I'm a second year here at Cottey and I'm a music major. I decided to become a music major because I've been singing since I was a little girl. And music has helped me through a lot of struggles. The best experience that I've had with Cottey's music department is when I was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall. A Cottey alum, Dr. Amedy Bryson was asked by Carnegie Hall to bring a choir with her to New York to perform. And I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the three students by Cottey to send up to New York with her.
We performed at Carnegie Hall and then afterward, we got to do a cruise around the harbor and see the Statue of Liberty and it was amazing. I'm so lucky to have gotten to go on that trip. I would urge anybody considering applying to Cottey to go ahead and apply. It's a great school to be at. They have given me so many opportunities to experience things that I never got to experience before in my life. The faculty is so caring and so attentive to our needs. That's one of the wonderful things about Cottey is with the small class sizes. You really get a personal relationship with your teachers. And I know that anybody that comes to Cottey is going to have a great experience the same way that I did.
